At AILL we believe that every empowered citizen in any African country contributes positively to the development and success of their country and the continent as a whole. In accordance with our mission and vision, AILL is an institute that is founded on the principles of the positive pursuit of active and empowered citizenship, good governance, participative democracy, quality education and the pursuit of fair rule and human rights.
We believe the key principles of good governance are:
AILL proposes a periodic Ambassadorial Leadership Forum (ALF) that brings together members of the diplomatic corps to share their experiences and views in a bid to achieve knowledge and learn from a wide spectrum of leadership under the auspices of AILL. As such, the proposed ALF will be an open nonpartisan platform for the diplomatic community to expand the leadership knowledge and its potential in Africa. AILL will also consider the proposed ALF as a dissemination forum where African Institute for Leaders and Leadership Yearbook (AILLY) will be disseminated to members of the diplomatic corps and other invited guests. Diplomats, in its holistic sense, are strategically placed to facilitate an effective collective action necessary for the broadening and deepening an understanding of leaders and leadership. The ALF is, thus, in consonance with, among others, the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Intercourse: the 1949 Geneva Diplomatic Conventions and the 1963 Vienna Convention on Consular Relations.
The African Institute for Leaders and Leadership Yearbook (AILLY) is an annual project, which aims at producing yearbooks on African leaders and leadership. The AILLY seeks to provide an understanding on the leadership dynamics in Africa by means of researching on the principles of African leadership, deriving the origin of ideological and philosophical standpoints on African leadership, and studying the practice of leadership by African leaders.
